Course abstract

During their practice placements, students acquire skills in calculating and analysing economic performance indicators for a particular enterprise, identify the specifics of the accounting process in the enterprise (organisation) and strengthen their theoretical knowledge.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of the substance and principles of analysis of the economic performance of the enterprise and an understanding of economic analysis methods - Practical training report, a reference of the work placement coach, the presentation of the report;
2. Demonstrate basic knowledge of the functions of the accounting department and the legal framework for accounting - Practical training report, a reference of the work placement coach, the presentation of the report;
3. Integrate and apply the acquired knowledge to take part in production and sales processes in enterprises (organisations, institutions) -Practical training report, a reference of the work placement coach, the presentation of the report;
4. Accumulate the knowledge acquired and apply it in analysing economic performance - Practical training report, a reference of the work placement coach, the presentation of the report;
5. Calculate, explain and analyse the key economic performance indicators of the enterprise - Practical training report, the presentation of the report

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Getting acquainted with the practice place, its type of activity, history of development. Description of the implementation of the company's production or service activity plan.
2. Detailed description of the efficiency of the company's capital resources.
3. Characteristics of labor effectiveness and productivity.
4. Detailed description of profit and income, cash flow, use of investments.
5. Organizational structure of accounting service, work organization, functions, duties of employees.
6. Normative acts regulating the activities of the accounting service.
7. Organization and control of accounting.

8. Procedure for preparation and submission of reports. Carrying out inventory.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The practical training is completed within the specified period, a practical training report ir independently produced and successfully defended with the Practical Training Commission at the Institute of Business and management Science.
Failure to undergo or complete the practical training or defend the report within the specified period represent outstanding course requirements. The practical training not underwent or completed may be done in the next academic year.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The student has to produce a practical training report (15-20 pages in size (excluding annexes) and computer typeset) during the placement in accordance with the guidelines for practical training. A fully completed report together with a reference from the placement coach has to be submitted to the supervisor appointed by the Institute at the final stage of the training – on the date prescribed by the semester plan.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The student’s practical training is evaluated as pass or fail by the Practical Training Commission based on the quality of the report, the student’s presentation and defence result and the reference from the coach.
