Course abstract

Project Human Resources Management (PHRM) is an interdisciplinary study course, focused on organizational and psychological processes of HRM in project teams. HRM principles, methodologies and practices are envisaged in framework of project implementation conditions. Course provides students with project team building and management methodologies, based on organizational culture and psychology. Acquired knowledge is strengthen by modelling practical cases and appropriate training exercises.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
Knowledge – students have acquainted with concepts of human resource management functions and psychological processes (understanding, planning, managing, developing), as well as conditions necessary for successful team work.
Skills - ability to assess the quality of human resource management, to formulate topical tasks and develop a process improvement guidelines; the ability to use a variety of human resource planning, search and selection, job analysis, motivation and assessment methods, developed capacity of use team building methods in project management practice.
Competencies - to collect and understand information about project team processes and issues, and use it as manager for achieving definite project aims and objectives.

1. Human resources management and its implementation approaches.
2. The specifics of human resources management in projects.
3. Group and team concepts.
4. The importance of organizational culture in project progress, cultural differences in international projects.
5. Competence of team management in the work of project manager.
6. Team building.
7. Organization of communication in the project team.
8. Interpersonal communication in the team.
9. Decision-making in the project team.
10. Conflict management.
11. Motivation of the project team.
12. Increasing project team management competencies.

1. Comparative analysis of personnel management concepts (individual work and group discussion,.
2. Identification and analysis of typical project situations.
3. Creating a "portrait" of an effective team.
4. Differences and influences of culture and traditions in an international project.
5. Human resource management problem solutions with the AGILE method, Firo circle.
6. Test of behavioral styles, analysis of its results and use of opportunities for team building.
7. Consultative listening exercise.
8. Decision-making in conflict situations. Analysis of the situation.
9. SCORE model application.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Test - concepts, functions and psychological processes of human resource management.
Independent work - human resources management in projects issues - scientific research collection of works using scientific databases and articles of international scientific-research conferences.
Analysis and assessment of the situation - analysis of the problem situation and possible solutions in human resources management projects, using Agile, Score, FIRO methods and approaches.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

A student can receive a passing grade in the test if at least 50% of the questions are answered correctly.
Independent work is evaluated according to the quality of the task.
Analysis and assessment of the situation is assessed by involvement and ability to reasonedly explain and discuss issues related to problem understanding, solutions in the project team, using Agile, Score, FIRO methods and approaches.
