Course abstract

The study course provides in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills in time and job planning and organising to achieve a better outcome of work. As part of the study course, students' awareness of internal and external barriers and their management in time planning and use is improved. Key principles for job and time planning, targeting techniques and priority setting techniques are being learned. The study course develops learners' skills to apply specific time and job planning tools, to be able to organise their work more constructively and to achieve the objective of work, and to develop a personal time management strategy, taking into account aspects of the professional environment and personal characteristics.
The aim of the study course: to raise awareness among magistrates of the importance of time management and key lessons in order to promote their professional and personal effectiveness.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of time perception, time management concepts and time management factors and their effects on the private and working lives of the person (own-initiative works).
Know and understand the conditions for setting up time management strategies, planning and enforcement methods, principles and techniques and their application (quiz).
Skills:
Professional skills:
Is capable of self-analysis and evaluation (own-initiative works, discussion in the workshop).
Are able to identify internal and external barriers to the efficient use of time, analyse them and find suitable solutions for their elimination (own-initiative works, discussion in the workshop).
Ability to obtain, collect and analyse information and develop a personal time management strategy (own-initiative works, report).
General skills
Be able to perform tasks within time (Review, Presentation, Own-initiative Activities, Groups) responsibly.
Be able to work effectively on a team, delegate and coordinate the performance of duties. Is able to take responsibility for the results of the group's work (Work in the Group).
Is able to present the results of the works carried out and base its views (own-initiative works, paper, presentation).
Competence
Be able to self-formulate and critically analyse time management processes and problems, understand and be able to apply different time planning and efficient methods and prioritise, be able to independently develop a time management strategy (own-initiative works, paper and presentation).

Course Content(Calendar)

1. The astronomical and philosophical understanding of time. (1 hour)
2. Basic elements of time management. (1 hour)
3. The nature and role of self-management and self-management in time management. (1 hour)
4. Time management structure. (1 hour)
5. Objective and subjective factors determining the use of time. (1 hour)
6. Target system and determinant. (1 hour)
7. Inefficient use of time. (1 hour)
8. Time planning system. (1 hour)
9. Psychological dimension in the performance of day-to-day duties. (1 hour)
10. Prioritisation or prioritisation. The Franklin Pyramid and the Eisenhower Matrix as practical methods in time management. Personal and work priorities, their coordination. Audit of individual priorities and targets. (1 hour)
11. Elements of the time-saving system. (1 hour)
12. Closing presentation: Individual Time Management Strategy. (1 hour)

Workshop lesson topics (12 hours)
1. Self-evaluation system. Awareness of the strengths and weaknesses (2 hours).
2. Time management factors, time awareness, my relationship with time (1 hour).
3. Quiz: Conditions for setting up time management strategies, time management factors, planning and execution methods, principles and techniques and their application (2 hours).
4. Analysis of the performance of personal time budget and working day tasks (2 hours).
5. Time planning habits and methods applied. Audit of individual priorities and targets (2 hours).
6. Assessment of time use. Internal and external barriers to the efficient use of time (2 hours).
7. Presentation of an individual time management strategy (1 hour).

Requirements for awarding credit points

A positive evaluation (test with a mark) can be received if attending lectures, completed and positively evaluated independent work, group work, report and test.

Study process in part-time distance learning is organised in accordance with the Order of the Vice-Rector of Studies No. 2.4.-5/59 On distance learning procedures at LBTU. Study courses are scheduled for each semester according to the study plan. The students learn the topics included in the study course independently, using the materials created and placed by the lecturer in the e-studies (Moodle). Feedback on the learning of lecture and seminar topics in distance learning is organised in the form of self-assessment tests, discussion forums and independent work, as well as in face-to-face or online consultations, lectures and final examinations according to the timetable.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Assigned own-initiative and group tasks, research tasks or other tasks have been performed according to the questions in the lesson and a collection has been obtained.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The netting rating shall consist of:
Own-initiative work “Self-evaluation system”. Awareness of the strengths and weaknesses': 15%;
Quiz “Themes: Conditions for setting up time management strategies, factors influencing time management, planning and execution methods, principles and techniques and their application”: 30%;
Own-initiative work “Analysis of the budget of personal time and the performance of the tasks of the working day” - 20%;
Individual Time Management Strategy - Review (25%) and Presentation (10%).
