Course abstract

Students will acquire theoretical and empirical knowledge of the management of staff, the nature of the management of staff, methods, functions, types of recruitment and job interviews, ways of stimulating employment, the principles of contact, the forms of expression of power to ensure the functioning of the organisation as much as possible, and to satisfy the collective interests in general and to support the needs of each individual employee.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Students will be able to: demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of theoretical principles of personnel management (Tests, a multiple choice test, practical assignments).
• Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the legal framework for personnel management (Seminars).
• Assess workforce sources (Test with calculations).
• Set personnel management goals in an organisation, independently acquire information and select the most proper personnel analysis tools, design and analyse a motivation system, processes and procedures for personnel management in the organisation (Practical assignments).
• Choose the most proper methods of personnel selection and conduct job interviews (Practical assignments).
• Independently analyse personnel management problems using the legal framework (Seminar).
• Responsibly plan the completion of the assignments given (Practical assignments).
• Engage in group work and assume responsibility for the results and an analysis of the group work (Practical assignments).
• Calculate, assess and substantiate the economic efficiency of exploiting workforce sources in business (Test).

• Independently define and analyse problems and find solutions to a particular personnel management problem based on the acquired competence in personnel management in business (Practical assignments, seminars).

Requirements for awarding credit points

Formal test with a mark cumulative score (100%):
• Multiple choice test (10%)
• Test 1 (20%);
• Test 2 (20%);
• Practical assignments (50%);

10% are equal to one point on a 10-point marking scale.
