Course abstract

The students will get their insight about the essence of business, activity, business environment, innovation, small and medium entrepreneurship, forms and business. The students understand the importance in business of capital and investment and to acquire some practical knowledge for starting and planning their business.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge – about the essence of business activities of small and medium, innovation entrepreneurship, classification of business forms, business environment and its improvement, the evaluation of economical activities of enterprise and the planning of their activities. To acquire the understanding about the importance of the capital and investments in the entrepreneurship -practical assignments and exam.
• Skills – to be able to prepare the documents of the foundation of enterprises, to discuss about the improvement of the environment of the activities of the enterprises, to prepare the development plan of the enterprise - practical assignments.

• Competences – knowledge and practical skills are acquired in order to analyse and evaluate to plan out the activities of the enterprise, to be able to evaluate the risks of the entrepreneurship and to use the suitable management methods - practical assignments.

Course Content(Calendar)

Full-time studies:
1. The essence of business (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 1 hour).
2. Business environment and its characteristics (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 2 hours).
3. Forms of business (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 3 hours).
4. Company life cycle (Lecture - 1 hour, practical work - 1 hour).
5. Micro, small, and medium business (Lecture - 1 hour, practical work - 1 hour).
6. Starting a business and founding a company (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 4 hours).
7. Reorganization of the company (Lecture - 1 hour).
8. Company insolvency and liquidation (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 1 hour).
9. Risk factor in business (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 4 hours).
10. Business planning (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 3 hours).
11. Basics of business planning (Lecture - 2 hours; practical work - 4 hours).
12. Sources of company financing (Lecture - 1 hour, practical work - 2 hours).
13. Investments and their role in business (Lecture - 1 hour).
14. Evaluation of the company's economic activity (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 3 hours).
15. Innovation entrepreneurship (Lecture - 1 hour; practical work - 3 hours).

Part-time studies:
All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented but the number of contact hours is ½ of the specified number of hours.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Exam at the end of the study course.
The examination is allowed for students who during the study course, working in a group, complete independent work (at least 75%), prepare and present homework, have successfully written 3 tests during the semester.

Preparation of practical and independent work.
Preparing for examination.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Examination mark is an accumulating mark of all course marks.
