Course abstract

Students will get insight in the essence of business, business activities, business environment, innovation, small and medium entrepreneurship, forms of business. Students will understand the importance of business capital and investment, they will acquire practical knowledge for starting and planning their own business.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge – about planning of business activities, aims of a business plan, functions, structure, and methods to be used. To get understanding about production of business enterprises, income planning and understanding of business competition level.
• Skills - understanding how to use planning methods in working out a business price, to determine the necessary personnel and material resources of an enterprise, to work out a marketing plan, to calculate the income and cost of a business enterprise. To know how to carry out the profit and loss plan, calculations of the money flow.

• Competence – knowledge and skills are acquired in oder to find the best compromise between the wishes and practical opportunities of the business enterprise while drawing out the business plan.

Course Content(Calendar)

Full-time studies:
1. Choice of the topic of the course work, coordination of the structure and tasks with the lecturer.
2. Research of business plan development methodology.
3. Formulation of a business idea or description of the researched company.
4. Obtaining the necessary data and information about the development of the analyzed company or business idea.
5. SWOT analysis of the company.
6. Implementation planning.
7. Marketing plan.
8. Competition and competitiveness.
9. Production (service) program.
10. Company risks and plan of contradictory measure.
11. Organizational structure and administration.
12. Financial planning - revenue and expenditure.
13. Financial planning - cash flow planning.
14. Financial planning - balance sheet and profit and loss statement.
15. Summary of the business plan. Conclusions of the course work.
16. Presentation of the course work.

Part-time studies:
All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented but the number of contact hours is ½ of the specified number of hours

Requirements for awarding credit points

The student develops the course work independently, according to the chosen topic. It is submitted to the teacher for evaluation. To defend the course work, the student prepares a presentation and defends the tasks performed during its development, revealing the problems, emphasizing the most important findings and proposed solutions. The course work is evaluated in a 10-point system. The lowest successful mark is 4 (almost average).

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Studies of study course materials and literature. Independent elaboration of the course work and preparation of the presentation.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The evaluation of the study course consists of:
1. Developed course work - 70%

2.Development of a developed course paper and presentation of a course paper - 30%, 10% corresponds to one point on a 10-point assessment scale
