Course abstract

During the internship the students acquire skills and competences in modern expertise carried out at automobile services and different insurance companies. The knowledge can be directly used in qualitative Professional practical expertise working as a technical expert.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Familiar with methodology and technologies of ground motor vehicle expertise – internship review
• Able to apply up-to-date technologies to perform quantitative ground motor vehicle expertise, perform non failure technical expertise of ground motor vehicles, choose most suitable methods to perform it, constantly perform reasons of failure and perform calculation of damage prevention – internship review

1. Choice of place of internship and justification for it. (25 h)
2. Structure and scope of the internship company. (25 h)
3. Amounts of work of the company, circulation of documents in the field of expert testing. (25 h)
4. Supply and types of spare parts in the company. (25 h)
5. Structure and responsibilities of engineering personnel at the company. (25 h)
6. Methods used in the expert-examination. (25 h)
7. Auxiliary equipment and equipment for expert work. (25 h)
8. Expert work algorithm for primary expert-examination in road conditions. (25 h)
9. Expert work algorithm for inspection in the parking or service conditions. (25 h)
10. Procedures for completing expert documents. (25 h)
11. Analysis of customer diversity. (25 h)
12. The psychological assessment of the client, its role in expert testing. (25 h)
13. Largest insurance companies in Latvia. (25 h)
14. Network of service companies with which insurance companies cooperate. (25 h)
15. Practical expert examination of vehicles, its characteristics, hidden defects. (25 h)
16. Technical expertise, its characteristics and the sources of information. (25 h)

Requirements for awarding credit points

Internship realized of at least 10 weeks. Prepared and defended summary of internship – review. Type of test - internship with a grade.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Preparation of the internship review according to the study course plan.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the internship depends on the size and quality of the internship review, as well as on the ability to demonstrate the knowledge acquired during practice.
