Course abstract

The aim of the Course Paper is to teach the students to plan freight transportation between three corresponding points A, B and C, with both universal and specialized vehicles, do calculations and as a result provide a comparative assessment.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge. Understand planning, calculation and evaluation of specific freight transportation process, selection of appropriate vehicles, planning and calculation of certain cargo loading and unloading operations, as well as selection of appropriate cargo handling equipment – course paper.
Skills. Able to analyze, compare and evaluate the effectiveness of universal and specialized vehicles for certain cargo transportation in the given routes - course paper.

Competences. Able to plan effective freight transport by road within the simple inland routes - course paper.

6. Transportation routes for the universal vehicle.

9. Quantity of cargo and its placement in the vehicle.
10. Work schedule for the vehicle.
11. Placement of cargo and loading machinery in the area.
12. Schedule of Cargo Loading and Unloading Cycles.
13. Calculation of the number of loading and unloading mechanisms.
14. Description of the rules for the freight transportation.
15. Calculation of fuel costs for transportation of selected cargo.

Elaborated and defended course paper. Type of test - course paper (grade).

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The course paper is carried out independently, taking into account the lessons from the study course “Transportation II” (TraZ4033) and, if necessary, consulting with the teaching staff at the consultation hours.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the course paper is based on the assessment of the performance of individual course assignments.
