Course abstract

The aim of the study course "Sociology" is to develop an understanding on both social structure and its development tendencies and basic principles of the analysis focusing on social processes. During the course students acquire social knowledge that is considered to be as an important element of contemporary professional culture of specialists of different sectors as it allows being competent in problem situations and making justified decisions considering socio economic processes and necessity of multidisciplinary knowledge within a context of the particular field of professional activity.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The course provides:
knowledge – on social structure, tendencies of its functioning and development;
skills - to use different sources of information, to discuss tendencies of societal development, evaluate critically socio economic processes within a context of particular speciality, to use knowledge on social processes for being involved in social activities of the society;
competences - ability to be competent in problem situations and to make decisions considering social knowledge in professional activities, practically use results of different researches.
