Course abstract

The aim of the course is to deepen students' understanding on theoretical viewpoints, main concepts of sociology and development of sociology as a science in Europe and America. During the course students are introduced with subject of sociology, the development of sociology and methods used in sociology in relation with topical social problems and research directions.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge – students are familiar with concepts of sociological theory on social structure and social processes, they are aware of topical themes of sociology.
• Skills – develop skills to be competent in different theories of sociology, studying of scientific literature, analysing of information, to discuss about trends of social development.
• Competence – students can choose appropriate theoretical approach of sociology and use different research results for analysing of social processes.
