Course abstract

Organizational psychology and management examines theoretical and practical aspects of organization work management activities, principles and perfection of potentialities, as well as interpersonal communication in organization. During the course the role of manager in managing processes is analysed, psychological aspects of group and team building is considered, communication in organization, employee motivation as increaser of work effectiveness.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

•Knowledge: be able to explain basic concepts of organizational psychology and management, to describe the functions and principles of organization management; to identify the factors influencing the organization; to define effective communication in the organization, to characterize conflicts and their solution tactics, to explain team building principles. Test 1, 2, 3, 4.
• Skills able to: analyse and evaluate internal and external processes of organizations and decision-making scenarios according to change of situation. Work in team/ group and individually. Effective planning and organizing of work. Practical tasks, seminars.
• Competence - to demonstrate the ability to use knowledge in assessing different situations of the organization's activities in problem solving, decision-making, forecasting organizational development scenarios - Independent homework.

7. Leadership. Leadership’ theories. Authorship, its types. 2h
8. Individual in an organization. Psychological characteristics of individual types. 2h
9. Psychological climate in the organization and its optimization. 2h

10. Communication in the organization. Mechanisms of mutual perception and understanding of people. 2h
11. Conflicts in the organization and tactics and strategies of their solving. 2h
12. The nature of the problem, their types. Problem solving process. 2h
13. Types of a decision. Rational decision-making process. Decision making nowadays. 2h

Requirements for awarding credit points

The test by mark. Cumulative assessment of semester work.

The cumulative assessment of the semester's work consists of:
1. Attendance of contact lessons.
2. Participation in practical tasks and seminars during classes - tests and case studies, which will be evaluated by the "pass / fail".
3. Passed 4 tests, what will be evaluated in the 10-balls system.
4. Presented and defended independent home-works, what will be evaluated in the 10-balls system.

All tests, practical tasks and independent home-works must be credited.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Independently prepared and presented independent work:
• An organization's SWOT analysis.
• The characteristics of the organization's culture.
• Analysis of the observed situation in order to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the progress of management situations, managerial activities and cooperation with subordinates.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The test by mark will be evaluated in the 10-balls system

Evaluation criteria:
1. Understanding of the theoretical and practical concepts of organization psychology and management.
2. Ability to discuss and argue your point of view.
3. Presentation skills.
4. The skills of the self-organization of work - inclusion in deadlines.
