Course abstract

Organizational psychology and management examines theoretical and practical aspects of organization management activities, principles and perfection of potentialities, as well as interpersonal communication in organization. In the course the role of manager in managing processes is analyzed, psychological aspects of group and team building is considered, communication in organization, employee motivation as increaser of work effectiveness is analysed.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Knowledge: be able to explain basic concepts of organizational psychology and management, to describe the environment and functions of organization management; to identify the factors influencing the organization; to define effective communication in the organization and charisma elements, to characterize conflicts and their solution tactics, to explain team building principles – two quizzes.
2. Skills: analyse internal and external processes of organizations and make decisions according to change of situation; analyse management situations by using different cognitions of theoretical schools; work in a team/group and individually – practical works.

3. Competence: to deal with problems make decisions and foresee development in different situations of organization; able to present one of the course themes explaining relationships - two independent works.

1. The nature of management and its functions. Cultural values and their impact on management in world regions – 3 h.
2. Principles for the functioning of the organisation. Organisation as a system. Description of the internal and external environment of the organisation – 3 h.
3. The personality of the leader. Power and its manifestations. Subjects of the management process. Leading styles - 3 h.
4. The nature of interpersonal communivation and its barriers. Leadership and its theories. Emmotional intelligence. Authority and its types. Charisma - 3 h.
5. An individul in an organisation. Psychological and and social characteristics of individual types. Neuroplasticim and impact of bramin chemistry on the development of personality – 3 h.
6. Organisation as a group. Group types. Psychological processes and social phenomena characterising the groups. Team work - 3 h.
7. Psychological microclimate. Conditions for the development of a favourable psychological environment at organisation - 3 h.
8. Job motives and motivational theories. Motivating groups- 3 h.
9. Communication models at organisation, its impact on interpersonal relations. Mutual mechanisms of perception and understanding of humans - 3 h.
10. Planning as a function of management. The nature of planning and its types. Planning methods. Strategic planning – 3 h.
11. Problem. Decision taking process and methods. Strategic decisions – 3 h.
12. Conflicts at organisation ant their solving tactics and strategies. Mobing and bossing. Professional stress and its management – 3 h.
13. Motivational function of management. The nature and evolution of motivation. Nowadays methods of motivation – 3 h.
14. The principles of information and job coordination. Remote job opportunities at organisation. Time management and procrastination – 3 h.
15. The principles of organising job and mandating duties. The impact of 4 ID and artifficial intelligence on the organisation work – 3 h.

16. The aim and necessity of control. The functions of control and the role in management – 3 h.

Requirements for awarding credit points

80% lecture attendance, successful evaluation of two quizes, two independent works and practical works.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The first independent work. Present one of the course themes explaining relationships (in front of the audience). A study on the environment of organisation and the functions of management.
The second independent work. Analysis of the observed situation with a purpose to demonstrante a deeper understanding of the situation develpment, management peculiarities and co-operation with subordinates.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the study course test with a mark depends on the cumulative evaluation of two quizes, two independent works and practical works.
Quizes are assessed with a successful mark if at least 50% of the questions have been correctly answered.
The assessment of two independent works and practical works take place in accordance with the criteria laid down there in.
The test mark is the arithmetic mean among quizes, independent and practical works assessments.
