Course abstract

Practice is oriented to practical usage (in museums or cultural establishments) of knowledge acquired in 1st course. Students choose place of practice in Latvia museums (in own region, Academia Petrina, LUA museum in Jelgava), where they realize research work of art or cultural historical objects of local importance, existing traditions, gather information electronically. Academic skills are integrated with communication skills. Pedagogical skills students can prove at presentation, their task is to introduce others with worked out methodical material grounded with usefulness in lessons at school.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge practical usage of communication skills and current museum pedagogical themes to rouse interest of young people, which strengthen the meaning of the value of culture and art for personality development;
• skills to analyze, compare, evaluate and argue own point of view about questions of culture and art; to integrate academic skills (usage of archive materials, libraries, informatics technologies) with communication skills (talks, interviews, guidance of excursions); demonstration of pedagogical skills in presentation;
• competence: able to argue and solve problems in the field of culture and art research; to gain and use data for considering about essential questions of culture and art tied to development of own personality; to use knowledge and skills in pedagogical work without assistance; to work out training methodical visual material.
