Course abstract
The course of study includes the Latvian language knowledge and skills. Active conversational skills and auditory perception are developed, active vocabulary is extended and pronunciation skills are improved. Students develop lexical, grammatical and functional language competence, what allows to comment sufficiently precise on the topics of the course, emphasizing the knowledge of Latvian national culture - cultural heritage, spiritual and material culture. The focus is on educational use of terms.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
• Knowledge - able to: understand the main points of clear and write speech within familiar topics, which comes during studies and leisure; understand radio and television content, when speak about current events or topics relatively slow and clear; understand the most frequent use of the educational terms according the specialty; form a concept of the Latvian national cultural diversity.
• Skills - able to: understand texts used often in every day or connected with studies; write a simple connected text, which is familiar; use more frequent terms of education; describe the Latvian national culture.
• Competence – able to: get in touch in situation travelling abroad, when is necessary to speak; briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans; tell story, spread content of books or films and describe attitudes; see the basic values of Latvian national culture; use the Latvian language knowledge and skills in self-life related situations as well as in studies.
