Course abstract

Students get acquainted with the theories of modern Home economics, get practical experience to use it in their personal life and in the realization curriculum "Home Economics". They study the role of Home economics in society, its forms, functions. They get the understanding of the needs of household members in the context of quality of life. Development of the ideas of sustainable resource consumption, of organization and evaluation one`s households activities are comprised in the course.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge:understanding of household place in society, its form and function, recruit of finanses and other houshold resources in context of sustainability and quality of life, organize of personal and property safety and security events, reflection of Home economics theory in the curicullums „Home economics” content- Theory test.
Skills: to find, critically evaluate possibilities and use information to provide the needs of household members and households activities, to solve problems, to establish goals and choose appropriate strategies for personal living environment and quality of life, to review one`s own action and to foresee results- Practical works..
Competence: to evaluate and model the household goals and activities of the household members in the context of the quality of life, comprehensive use of the acquired knowledge and skills in building students' understanding of the human environment safety and quality conditions and improvements- Independent homeworks.

5. Overview of Home economics forms and functions - 2h.
6. Households provision and their reflection in statistical studies - 2h.
7. The Households members goals and needs - 1h.
8. Understanding quality of life, its criteria and indicators - 2h.
Theory test.
9. The Life quality improvement strategies in a household - 2h.
10. Home economic activity management and evaluation - 4h.
11. Resource attraction and economic use- 2h.
12. Sustainable Consumption and Environment - 2h.
13. Financial planning and control of home economics - 2h.
14. Peoples property security and protection-1h.
15. Consumer education- 2h.
16. Individual entrepreneurship- 3h.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Test with mark.
Requirements for passing the test:
a. Attendance classes.
b. Developed and defended practical work during the classes, which will be evaluated by the "pass / fail".
c. Presenting and defending the independent home works, estimated with a mark of 10 points in the system
d. Pass theory test, which is estimated with a mark of 10 points in the system.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Students prepare and submit:
- an informative report on the provision of household in statistical surveys;
- a study on their monthly budget with its assessment;
- calculation of household building costs;
- an overview of the content of the home economy in relation to the subject "Standards of Home Economics and Technology" ;
- sample plans and tasks or exercises for one lesson, coordinating the topic with the academic staff.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, a 10-point scale grade is planned.
Knowledge control and evaluation criteria:
a. How the individual independent works correspond with nominated requirements.
b. Presentation skills.
c. Work organization skills – respect the deadlines.
