Course abstract

Teaching course Regulation of biochemical proceses includes concepts about nutrition component degradation, bio-molecules biosynthesis and energy security processes, the neurohumoral regulation process of the human body, as well as provide knowledge about the biochemistry and genetic advances in modern practical application possibilities in nutriment-science, the real achievements and prospects.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students will attain during studies:
Knowledge. Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding, part of which corresponds to Regulation of Biochemical Proceses latest developments, which provide the basis for creative thinking or research, including operating the interface between fields.
Know the processes of degradation of nutrient components, biomolecule biosynthesis and energy supply, neurohumoral regulation of these processes in the human body, - 1st, 2nd tests.
Skills. Able to independently use the theory, methods, and problem solving skills to carry out research activities or highly qualified professional functions. Able to forcefully explain and discuss Regulation of Biochemical proceses management science aspects.
Literature review - preparation of a report on certain topics of biochemistry in food industries. Able to present and defend the report.
Competence. Able to independently formulate and critically analyze Regulation of Biochemical Proceses scientific and professional problems, to show understanding and ethical responsibility for the results of scientific or professional activity, the potential impact on the environment and society.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The control of knowledge is done by test writing - a total of 2 tests for the individual sections and topics. Completed independent work on a variety of course topics student defends on seminar, all students participate. Rating the quality of the performed work, student's ability to defend his solution and the activity of analysing other authors' works. Evaluation by the exam (10-point scale).
Written exam.
The exam assignment consists of:
• questions on the theoretical material acquired during the study course;
• questions about the topics learned in the study course reports.
In order to be able to take the exam, all tests and report must be credited.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Studies of information, literature and scientific literature, preparation for tests, preparation of a report.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the study course depends on the exam results. During studies students have to write a review of literature connecting with individual rate of biochemical processes. A student can get a successful mark of test or exam if at least 50% of the questions are answered correctly. Students who have at least 7 (good) study marks in this course, the exam may not be organized and the examination is equated with the average arithmetical marks of the tests and report which have been taken from the study course.
