Course abstract

In the course of training, students have been acquainted with the establishment of MPS Vecaucé, current characteristics and development prospects, LR forest fund and management, forest-based production and wood recycling facilities in Auces.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After the course, the student will have:
• knowledge, knowledge of the organisation and development of the agricultural and forestry sector in rural areas (practice report),
• skills – capable of exploiting business opportunities in rural areas (practice report),
• competence – responsible analysis of the development of the forest sector in rural areas and understanding the links of forest-friendly production in the pursuit of further study courses (practice report).

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Creating a “Vecaucé” MPS, current characteristics, development prospects. Gardening and woodworking.
2. LR forest resources, management, industries, production cycles.
3. MPS Auces forest county, tasks and demonstrations of forest-friendly sites in the forest.
4. AS “Latvian State Forests” tasks, work organisation, execution, control and problems in Zemgale Forestry. In the county of Ele.
5. Forest recovery practical works in the forest.
6. The tasks of “Silva” company SIA, work organisation, problems, forest management company Ben forest maker
7. Tasks, development, production technology and prospects of the “Lasmanis” plant parts production company.
8. Practice report

Requirements for awarding credit points

Participating in all lessons, compiling a report to defend a successful practice report.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Summarize the resulting information in the report. Preparation of the practice report according to the methodological instructions.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Practice report. The rating needed for the countdown is mediocre.
