Course abstract

Master theses (III) is a complex research of actual themes in forestry including ecosystem, sustainable and commercial aspects of the forest sector, it contains review of former research results in field of chosen theme. Master students start to work on chapter of processing of empirical data according to previously worked out methodology of research, analysis of results and discussion.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The elaboration of a master's thesis strengthens the master's student's knowledge of the stages of scientific research. / Submission of the previous research report to the supervisor. Skills are developed to search for and process information, plan and conduct research, use and apply the most appropriate methods of mathematical processing, interpret the obtained results. As a result, the master student acquires the competence to independently formulate and critically analyze complex scientific and professional problems, to explain and present the results. / Presentation and 1nd pre-defense

Requirements for awarding credit points

The development of a master's thesis strengthens the master's student's knowledge of the stages of scientific research. Submission of a draft of previous research to the supervisor. The Master's student acquires skills for searching and processing information, planning and performing research, using and applying the most appropriate mathematical processing methods, and interpreting the obtained results. As a result, the master student acquires the competence to independently formulate and critically analyze complex scientific and professional problems, to explain and present the results. / Presentation and 1st defense.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Preparation of a draft review of the current research. Digitizes empirical data. Preparation of the presentation and 1. pre-defense.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Review of previous research 30 literature sources, including about 50% foreign literature (12-15 pages) and submission of work methodology e-studies Master's thesis III, MežZ5031 Preparation of the presentation (topicality of the topic, aim of the research, research tasks, hypothesis, research methodology) and presentation at the open meeting of the Department of Silviculture. Digitized empirical data available.
