Course abstract

The study course provides the extended knowledge of the property rights in forestry in the Republic of Latvia, about land reform and process of restitution of property rights, and of the State role in Forestry. Dynamics of forest ownership forms and problems of market of forest land in Latvia and in the EU countries will be analyzed.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Students acquire knowledge of strategy processes characterizing the dynamics of forest ownership forms in context of Land reform in Latvia, regarding the role of the State in forestry.
• Students obtain skills necessary for using Forest branch information systems and databases for studies of Forestry Strategy problems in State, private and municipal forests.
• As a result students are competent at analyzing theoretical and practical aspects of realization of Forestry Strategy in the context of of forest ownership form diversity.
