Course abstract

The study course provides knowledge of forest functions and values in context of the multifunctional forestry concept, non-timber forest products and the landscape, ecological, social and cultural forest services and their value. Students will also get acqainted with the problems of forest values in public perception, and also with the experience of forest complex valuation in other countries.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Students will gain knowledge about the functions of forest as an element of biosphere and the value of these functions.
• Students will obtain skills necessary for practical studies, analysis and using information, connected with the problems of management of non-timber forest products.
• As result students will be competent at the problems and practical aspects of realization of multifunctional forestry, independently calculating management of forest non-timber resources and fixing their value.
