Course abstract

Basics of marketing. Specifics of forest products markets and marketing. Marketing functions and communications. Marketing research and market information systems. Marketing strategies and market analysis. Marketing structures and channels. Designing a marketing plan. Forest products markets: situation, problems and possible solutions.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students gain knowledge in timber logistics (1st Test). Students are able to use the acquired knowledge in practical work, adopt strategic decisions in the field of logistics, optimize different types of logistics, collect and use market information, organize transport management in the enterprise (Practical Works), work in a team and actively discuss current problems in the field of timber logistics. It is competent to analyze the situation in the field of logistics and to evaluate the results obtained, to make decisions about taking the necessary measures (2nd Test).

3. The internal and external environment of logistics. (Lecture + Practical work)
4. Logistics systems and chains in the timber industry. (Lecture 2h + Practical work)
5. The main cost groups and assessment of logistics in the context of the forest sector. (Lecture + Practical work)
6. Purchasing (supply) logistics and valuation in the context of the forest sector. (Lecture 2h)
7. Production logistics and valuation in the context of forest and wood processing sector. (Lecture)
8. Distribution logistics and valuation in the context of the forest sector. (Lecture)

9. Service logistics and valuation in the context of the forest sector. (Lecture)
10. Logistics and assessment of order processing and enforcement in the context of the forest sector. (Lecture)
11. Transport logistics and their types. (Lecture + Practical work)
12. Stock management and warehouse holding. (Lecture)
13. Pricing. (Lecture 2h + Practical work)
14. Logistics management. (Lecture 2h + Practical work)
15. Control and evaluation of the logistics system. (2 h)

2nd Test

Requirements for awarding credit points

In order to get a course grade which indicates the acquisition of a study course: must participate in the working group lessons; the tests should be successfully written, practical works must be completed.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Students prepare independently for tests and practical works. The unfinished practical work should complete independently until the next practical work lesson.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of knowledge, skills and competence takes place on a 10-grade scale. An oral or written answer is successful if at least 50% of the questions have answered correctly. The final course assessment consists of a cumulative assessment of 2 tests (each 35 %) and practical works (30 % of total).
