Course abstract

The study course is expected to provide the knowledge of foundation of technology, number of workers and machinery for timber harvesting in different conditions, as well as to train skills for preparing of logging patterns and schedule graphs. During the study course the methods of calculation of labour capacity and output in logging should to be obtained.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Students acquire more detailed knowledge about forest operations technology and machinery depending on particular set of circumstances.
• Skills are obtained how to calculate necessary number of workers and machines, to prepare logging pattern and schedule graph for defined cutting site.
• Obtained competence level is sufficient for solving practical everyday tasks of timber harvesting industry.

Course Content(Calendar)

1 Distribution of the total volume of timber preparation by variants depending on the circumstances.
2 Selection of logging technological process, machines and power tools
3 Content and scope of auxiliary works to be performed. Calculation of the average timber delivery distance.
4 Auxiliary workload by variants. Workload of main works by variants.
5 Determining the required number of workers by variants.
6 Calculation of annual development indicators for machines for preparation and delivery of timber.
7 Compilation of technological schemes according to felling development variants.
8 Felling development calendar schedule
