Course abstract

Forest characteristic parameters, data collection methods and tools are described. Study course aim is to provide students with knowledge how to measure individual tree, its part and stand characteristics. Study course consists of practical and theoretical parts. Theoretical part considers forest mensuration methods, formulas, calculations and quality of the data. Practical part gives skills which are necessary for forest inventory specific in Latvia.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students acquire knowledge about methods and specific instruments used in forest mensuration, knows how to measure individual tree and calculate stand characteristics. Acquired knowledge allows to understand forest inventory data structure at all levels from single tree to stand.
