Course abstract

The aim of the course is to extend the knowledge and practical skills the basic principles of assessment of body composition by using standard and modern methods of assessment. The course will give knowledge and skills of nutritional assessment as well as of healthy individuals and also patients in hospitals. It is very important to stress importance of the nutritional assessment in the health care in Latvia.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After the implementation of this course students will get deeper understanding (knowledge) on basic principles of nutritional assessment of healthy individuals and patients. Students will be able (skills) to plan in practice to use methods of nutritional assessment in different population groups and evaluate them. Study of scientific literature will allow students to use evidence (competence) based methods for their future research work in the field of nutrition by using nutritional assessment methods.
