Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to develop an understanding of intellectual property law, copyright and related rights. Course is acquiring in methods of commercial confidentiality retaining and protection against unfair competition. It determines the role of patents in the design process. Students are acquiring patent search and new patent design methods. Study course introduces with the legislation on trade marks, designs and semiconductor product (integrated chip) topographies

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - understands the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, copyright and related rights. Knows the law on the protection of intellectual property rights of patents, trademarks, designs, semiconductor products (integrated chips) – 1st practical work.
Skills - is able to search for patents on the Internet in different sectors and to develop descriptions, claims and drawings of new patents - 2nd practical work.

Competence - ability to use the acquired professional knowledge and skills in practical work and studies for solving engineering problems - Homework.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Test with a mark.
A student takes a test after completing practical work, developed and defended home work.

Homework: Applying for a patent application –

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The student obtains a successful evaluation of practical work and home work if he / she has completed work in intellectual property databases and filed a patent application according to the Cabinet of Ministers regulations.
