Course abstract

The objective of course is to give students knowledge of the relationship between the structure of a material and its properties, of a microstructural and property changes in iron-carbon alloys and nonferrous alloys, of a heat treatment of steels and cast irons, understand the constraints of materials behavior and their abilities in order to select the best material for a given application.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge about the properties of engineering materials and connection those with structure, about behaviour of thermal treatment on the properties.
Skills to identify materials accordance with chemical composition, to develop technology of thermal treatment, to find of application.
Competence about rational select of materials from specific condition of application
