Course abstract

Students to master classification, physical-mechanical properties, structure, application of construction materials; understand basics of alloys theory, importance of iron-carbon condition diagram. Students learn identification of steels, cast irons, alloy steels, non-ferrous metals and alloys, to realise thermal treatment, become acquainted upholster materials.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge about the properties of engineering materials and connection those with structure, about behaviour of thermal treatment on the properties.
Skills to identify materials accordance with chemical composition, to develop technology of thermal treatment, to find of application.
Competence about rational select of materials from specific condition of application and feasibility of properties chaining, to availed thermal treatment.
