Course abstract

Study course comprises the essence of the design history, diversity and rules for effective making of it, with the main basic factors and subsidiary factors of interior design, the techniques of interior development, the ancient styles, the trends of architecture and design in the 20th and 21st century, the functional division of rooms, output composition of different design objects. Possibilities of its using, draft making, modelling, text and visual element composing in environment.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledges. At the end of the course a student knows the theory of creating visual advertising, interior design and business development history, good and sustainable designfeatures, composition and color learning the basics, is able to develop and analyze the visual concept of an enterprise and its textual advertising.
Skills: Able to develop and analyze the company's visual concept, textual advertising, design and manage the interior design and home products design building, use different materials, equipment and tools building design, signs, posters and shop window decoration.
Competences: Students are able to use knowledge, skills and professional work in the development of the organization of the necessary interior and home products design building, visual presentation, to organize activities to achieve the objectives.
Practical works and presentations reflect knowledge, skills and competences. Practical works and presentations are evaluated according to the criteria.

Course Content(Calendar)

1.Concept of design, characteristics. The advantages of the creative industry. Visual communication.
2. Design history, development, good design features. Types of Design, Industry, Styles.
3. Architectural and Design Directions in the 20th and 21st Centuries.
4. Factors determining the interior composition and their perception. Basic factors of interior design, auxiliary factors.
5. Reklāmas būtība, izmantošana pamatuzdevumu risināšanai. Reklāmas veidi.Reklāmas iekomponēšana vidē.
6.Advertising the environment in the environment, ways of expression.
7.Advertising modes.Advertising costs. Generating ideas. Strategic planning of advertising.
8.Visual concept: style, colors. Corporate identity. Brand, sign, symbol.
9.First stages of business logo development. Stylization Creation.
10. The means of visual expression, its application.Color - one of the most important factors forming the composition.
11.Materials for creating visual advertising. Outdoor advertising, banners, light boxes. Adhesive paper, application possibilities.
12. Textile advertising. Advertising signage. Advertising pitches.
13. Control Criteria: Readability, Simplicity, Visual Effect, Background Color and Ad Matching, Reconciliation of Visual Elements.
14.Packaging, materiāls.
15. Shop window, its design. Types of Compositions.
16. Exhibition design. Reasons for advertising at exhibition, costs. Equipment, constructions. Exhibition principles, planning.


List of Practical Works:
1. Optical letter spacing in text. Knows the theory of optical distances for laying, can compile distances. It is competent to apply knowledge and skills in further work.
2. Advertising, writing posters. Knows the types of letter writing and composition. Can use them in practice. It is competent to use in further work.
3. Styling. Branding, branding. Knows the theory of stylization, can use it in practice. It is competent to use in further work.
4. Shop window sketch, project. Window View Analysis. Knows shop window design theory, is able to analyze shop window design.
5. Development of the project for festive design. Realizes the idea and composition of a decorative composition from different materials. Knows the ways and possibilities of holiday celebration, can use it in practice. It is competent to use in further work.
6. Card, Greeting, Table Cards Project. Knows the theory of design, is able to implement card design. It is competent to use in further work.
7. Creating a presentation about the development of a case or subject design. Knowledge, skills and com- petences are used to build reso- lution.
8. Produce a visual advertising sketch, taking into account the surrounding environment, style, color consistency and other factors. Knows the theory of visual advertising, is able to create an advertising sketch. It is competent to use in further work.
9. Application design or computer graphics develop a design project space. Knows the conditions of interior design, is able to create a space interior sketch. It is competent to use in further work.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Practical works and presentation on development of case or subject design have been developed and successfully evaluated.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Practical works are carried out within the classroom.If necessary, the work started in the lesson is completed independently.
Evaluation of presentations (on the development of case or subject design) at the end of the semester.
