Course abstract

The study course acquaints with the main basic factors and subsidiary factors of interior design, the techniques of interior development, the ancient styles, the trends of architecture and design in the 20th and 21st century, the functional division of rooms, the development of an interior project.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge – on the factors of interior composition and its developmental techniques, the functional zones of a room, the significance of forms and proportions, the diversity of finishing materials. The insight into the regularities of colors for the interior designing; the insight into the lighting design, types of furniture and regularities of ergonomics, as well as the diversity of styles.
• Skills – to evaluate and analyze the basic factors and subsidiary factors of interior structure; to apply the basic principles of interior composition, the basics of color theory, the decorativity and functionality of materials for the development of an interior project.
• Competence – the ability to know the supply of modern design; the ability to develop the color, material and furniture arrangement projects for interior; the ability to develop the methodological visual aids and theoretical materials on different themes of interior for the classes of Visual Art and Home Economics.
