Course abstract

Professional practice is one of the most important components of the agricultural training programme in the specialisation of entrepreneurship in agriculture. It makes it possible to strengthen theoretical knowledge in a practice in agricultural or related enterprises. The practice shall be performed individually by the student in the agricultural enterprise. At the same time, practice is also pre-graduate practical studies, and it is recommended that the place of practice be selected according to the topics of the final work. Students choose the following basic topics for professional practice: business in crop production, horticulture or livestock farming. Students work individually in an agricultural or directly related public or private enterprises, learn to understand the principles and opportunities of the practical business of agriculture, the preconditions for the formation, existence and development of an enterprises, the principles of cooperation and the practical justification for the theoretical knowledge previously acquired, taking into account the specific direction of the holding.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge of the technological processes in one of the agricultural production sectors, management and organisational principles, the integration of the holding into the business environment, cooperatives, market conditions and agricultural organisations. In practice, the student learns the ability to link specific soil and agro-climatic conditions to agricultural production, to address practical issues and problems within the company. The student is competent to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in practice to assess the performance of the undertaking and to develop recommendations for its development.
1. Be able to characterise and to analyse production resources and technologies, and to carry out an initial assessment of the business of the practice in the report.

2. Capable of assessing the relevance of production technologies to specific circumstances and assessing their management and economic benefits as demonstrated by the presentation of the report and during the defence of the involvement in discussions.

Course Content(Calendar)

1. The professional practice shall be performed in the establishment for three weeks. 20 h
2. Report of professional practice – analysis and assessment of the activities and competitiveness of the company, comparison of business practices. 20 h

3. Presentation of the final report of professional practice – conformity of production technologies with specific conditions, management and economic assessment. 8 h

Requirements for awarding credit points

Test consisting of:
• report and

• presentation of the report.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

For the individual practice students shall choose independently or in consultation with the head of practice in the faculty the agricultural enterprise, state institution or private company directly related with agriculture and associated with their interests.
Preparation of report.

The report shall be submitted electronically to the e-study site and shall be discussed in the student group.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The performance of professional practice shall be attested by:
• the report is accompanied by feedback from the head of practice in the company;

• report prepared and presented in the student group in accordance with the programme and the guidelines for drawing up study work.
