Course abstract

The goal of this course is to understand the importance of innovations in the development of knowledge-based economy. Students acquire knowledge on the role of innovation in business and competitiveness, globalization. Creates awareness of the innovation system and get acquainted with the Latvian innovation support structure - the technological parks, technology and innovation centres and business incubators. Students develop innovative ideas that benefit the understanding of the innovative business creation.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have: 1) knowledge of innovation systems, new product development and implementation of market; 2) skills to practice the knowledge in designing cooperation in agricultural companies, farms and research institutions;
3) competence about the protection of innovation and the use.
