Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to be able to creatively and scientifically cooperate with the scientific adviser in the sphere that is related to the acquired study program and the research direction of the institute. Within the study course, a report and presentation on the performed research is prepared, as well as a publication in a foreign language is prepared.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Knowledge - a master student obtains extended practical and theoretical knowledge and an understanding of the research performed in a related science, the newest research technologies and equipment and their exploitation, and processing of research data and their demonstration.
2. Skills - a master student is skilful in applying the knowledge in elaborating a master thesis: analysis of an analytical situation, assessment and development of a research methodology, creation of new knowledge based on the research performed, summarisation, assessment, and interpretation of the results. A master student is able to defend and scientifically justify his/her own decisions made to solve engineering problems.

3. Competence - a master student can independently perform and analyse engineering calculations of various complexities and extents, conduct experimental and analytical research related to the research topic chosen. Able to prepare a report and presentation of the research- presentation. Is able to properly develop a foreign language publication- a published publication

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Selection of the theme of Master's thesis.
2. Selection of the supervisor and approval of the topic at the institute.
3. Preparation of master's paper development schedule.
4. Work hypothesis, development of its formulation.
5. The aim of the work, the formulation of the goal.
6. Tasks, their formulation.
7.General situation analysis, preliminary draft.
8. Schedule of research activities related to the topic of the thesis.

9. Presentation of a scientific publication for the conference "Students on their way to science" or its equivalent.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Students give a presentation at the enlarged Institute meeting. The prepared publication should be submitted in paper format

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Formulation of the title and introductory parts of the master's thesis.
Preparation of presentation on accomplished work, preparation of publication.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Passing the test requires a successful presentation at the enlarged meeting of the Institute and a well-written publication in English.
