Course abstract

In this studies course enclose characteristics of nutrients and its importance in metabolic processes and animal produced production. Will be taught protein and it fractions, carbohydrates and it forms, lipids and fatty acids, mineral substances, vitamins it requirements and possibility of supply for different species and physiological groups of animals.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The Master students acquire profound knowledge on the nutrients and their significance for the metabolism on the animal organism and production of produce. The Master students acquire the need for (norms) and supply of protein and its forms, carbohydrates and their types and groups, crude fats and fatty acid groups, mineral substances, including macro- and microelements, vitamins for animals of different species, age groups and productivity. Successful passed practical works. The Master students acquire skills regarding the main principles of nutrient rationing for animals of different species and groups, and how to choose the most appropriate types of feed, additives and preparation to meet the requirements in relation to feeding norms. Successful defense of a public report. As a result, the Master students are competent to apply the acquired skills, abilities and argue own opinion within the process of professional development, as well as to analyze more profoundly the scientific literature and to perform independent scientific research on feeding of animals. Successful passed final exam.

3. Feed dry matter as a criterion for rationing in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
4. Crude protein, its role in animal metabolism and production. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
5. Protein ranking and characterization by amino acid content and biological value. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
6. Principles of protein rationing. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
7. Carbohydrates, their various forms and role in animal nutrition.Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
8. The role of carbohydrate fractions NDF and ADF in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
9. Crude fat, their role in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
10. Crude fats requirements for animals of different species and groups. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
11. Minerals, their rationing and supply in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
12. Principles of rationing mineral elements in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
13. Organization of animal supply to minerals. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
14. Vitamins, their role and supply in animal nutrition. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.
15. Avitaminosis, hypovitaminosis, hypervitaminosis. Lectures 2h, practical words 2 h.

Requirements for awarding credit points

To ensure access to exam (in writing), Master students have to comply with course requirements, i.e. amount of classwork, practical works and defense of a report in accordance with course cpecification have to be evaluated positively.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Independent work on the issues marked by the study course. Literature studies, make of a report on a certain topic.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Successful assessment in the report and exam. The report accounts for 40% of the total evaluation and 60% of the total evaluation.
