Course abstract

Subject includes studies on plants diseases and their causal organisms (fungi, bacteria, viruses). Students will study process on infection, influence of environmental, ways and possibilities spreading and survival of pathogens. The students are acquainted with the most important diseases of agricultural crops, their causal agents and life cycle of diseases.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge about plant diseases and these causal agents and influence of environment to the development of diseases have been acquired. Students obtain knowledge about the most wide-spread and harmful diseases of agricultural crops.
Students are able to recognize the most important diseases under field conditions, have the skills to characterize casual agents of diseases and knowledge on the basic principles of epidemiology.
Students are able to estimate harmfulness of diseases, to understand life cycles of diseases and will be competent to evaluate risk of disease development in the specific situation. Students are able to integrate knowledge in the plant pathology with practical agronomy.
