Agricultural Entomology as subject includes studies on most important pests, their taxonomy, biology, ecology and control measures. Students will learn useful organisms as well, their main systematic groups. There are also studies on most important pest complexes in the agricultural crops.
Students acquire knowledge on plant pest taxonomy, biology, ecology and control measures. Know the most important and most common Latvian agricultural crop pests and their damage. Students know how to identify pests and their damage to crops and familiar with the plant pest biology and ecology. Are competent to assess the damage caused by pests, understands the most important pests and the need to control a given situation. Students are able to integrate knowledge of plant pests with practically agronomy.
