Course abstract

Subject provides knowledge of the fluid, its characteristics and the forces at work. Existing peace deals with fluids and fluid movement both laminar and turbulent regime, as well as the hydraulic resistance to flow and their calculation. Acquainted with the pumping action.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge and understanding of basics concepts of hydraulics course, under consideration of the regularities of the liquid at rest and in motion. Evaluation of completed and defended laboratory works and permanent works.
Skills to the size of hydraulic measurements and apply knowledge of water management calculations, hydrotechnics, water supply and sewage systems. Evaluation of completed and defended laboratory works and permanent works.
Competence to be able to analyze information on the liquids, it flows to the hydraulic pipes and construction estimates. Assessment with written exam.

1 Hydraulics - science of fluid balance and movement regularities.
2 Main physical properties of liquids. Viscosity. laboratory works
3 Hydrostatic pressure. Basic equation.
4 The Pascal Law. Pressure distribution in liquid. laboratory works
5 Pressure gauge. Vacuum. Permanent job.
6 Hydrostatic pressure episodes. Determination of pressure force. Test work.
7 Hydrodynamics. Flow geometric elements. laboratory works
8 Bernoulli equation for fluid flow. laboratory works
9 Laminar and Turbulent Flow. Local hydraulic losses. laboratory works
10 Friction Loss. Hydraulic calculations for pipelines. Permanent job.
11 Fluid outlet through holes and tips. laboratory works
12 Flow Siphons. Hydraulic shock in pipelines.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Practical works, tasks. At the end of each topic, practical tasks in calculating different situations are performed, laboratory works are carried out, where conclusions have to be provided according to the topic.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The student is able to prove the acquired knowledge and skills about hydraulics concepts, calculations, performing 2 tests and defending practical works and laboratory works. Final evaluation with written exam.
