Course abstract

The aim of the physics course is to deepen the understanding of the regularities that underlie the understanding of all natural and engineering problems. Course consists of lectures, manual training, laboratory and individual exercises. During the lectures students are introduced to theory and ways of describing physical laws. Manual training includes practicing and understanding written exercises and calculating precise results. During laboratory workshops students’ deal with hands-on exercises where they measure, process and analyses various data readings.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knows the regularities discussed in the physics course - theory tests.
Can perform appropriate measurements - laboratory work.

Able to evaluate measurement results - laboratory works and their defense.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Accumulative test for work during semester. The test is passed if the student has received at least 50% of the maximum number of points during the semester, summing up the assessment during the semester, are admitted to take the exam:
1. Colloquium in theory- 3;
2. Controls for solving tasks- 1;
3. Defending Laboratory Works - 4;
4. Independent homework-2 (optional option).

Each test is scored by 0-10 points.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

1. Independent work. An individual assignment will be given in e-learning.

2. Laboratory work calculations, evaluation of results, formalization and independent acquisition of relevant theoretical questions.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

A student can obtain a successful mark for a test if he / she collects at least 50% of the points on the job during the semester.
