Course abstract

Students acquire knowledge of the basic ethical principles, the main ethical and aesthetical categories, the history of ethical and aesthetical ideas. The course promotes skills in analysing contemporary issues of practical ethics and concrete cases. In addition to lectures the course includes discussions in seminars, group work and presentations of students’ papers.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge of basic ethical principles, basic categories of ethics and aesthetics, the history of ethical and aesthetical ideas;
• skills in formulating and analysing topical problems of the contemporary ethics, skills in evaluating aesthetic qualities of works of art;
• competence to solve problems responsibly, to evaluate knowledge and skills, to integrate them in further professional activity.
