Course abstract

Study course discusses modifications and control principles of automatic controllable electrical drives (ACED) in agriculture, woodworking and power engineering, selection, special regimes and operation of frequency controlled electrical drives, acquire modern methods and equipment of Power electronics for automatic controlled electrical drives, soft starters, frequency converters, asinchronous cascades, open loop and closed loop feedback systems their structure, operation principles, simulation in SIMULINK, as well as control schemes, technical parameters and economical justification.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• knowledge - in the field of automatic controllable electrical drives (ACED) to solve the theoretical and practical tasks of ACED selection, simulation and design for agricultural, woodworking and power production technologies;
• skills - to choose ACED components, to perform calculations of their parameters , to compose technological and electrical schemes of ACED, to simulate transient process of ACED in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment to improve ACED operation;
• competence - to select appropriate ACED and control system for conformable technological equipment, to evaluate an ACED operation reliability and to find the best way for it perfection.
