Course abstract

Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of solid, liquid and gaseous materials, its physical, electrical and chemical properties. The course deals with materials extraction and processing for manufacturing of insulation, wiring materials and other components for electrical units. Students get knowledges about basic characteristics of insulation, conductive and construction materials determining its usability in high or low temperatures environments, under exposure of chemicals and mechanical loads.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• knowledge - on electrotechnical materials and products, their mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical properties;
• skills - to assess the electrical materials and products for its suitability to withstand condition with high and low temperatures, to resist chemicals or mechanical loads.
• competence - to choose electrical materials or products for usage in various electrical appliances, taking in account the material's suitability for specific operational conditions.
