Course abstract

Study course dicusses automatic control principles and systems in power engineering, agriculture and woodworking, computerized process control, composition of operation algorithms for automatic control systems (ACS) components, typical links of ACS, their algorithms, transient characteristics and simulation in SIMULINK environment, composition of transfer functions and characteristic equations of the linear ACS, models of ACS stability, algebraic and frequency criteria of ACS stability and operation quality, as well as transient process simulation and optimization in MATLAB-SIMULINK.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge: in the field of automatic control systems to solve the theoretical and practical tasks of process automation in power engineering, agriculture and woodworking technologies and to improve their operation quality;
• skills: to choose ACS components, to compile their algorithms in static and dynamic modes, to compose ACS algorithmic block diagrams, to perform ACS transient process simulation in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment, to evaluate ACS stability and operation quality;
• competence: to select an appropriate control principle and control device for conformable technological object, to interpret ACS operation data and to perfect its operation quality.
