Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to know general conception of metrology; base of errors theory; metrological motivation of choosing apparatus of measurement; electrical apparatus of measurement and informative systems; measurement of electrical current; transducers of nonelectrical parameters; measurement of nonelectrical parameters.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - about characteristics and performance of the electric meters and measuring transducers design, measurement of electrical parameters – test.
Skills - to perform analysis and inspection of electric meters, recognizing standard circuits for measuring, performing electric measurements, technical calculations on circuits – laboratory classes.

Competence - to choose technical characteristics of electric meters and standard electric connections for measurement of circuit parameters – laboratory classes and home work.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Written exam. Exam consist of:
1. test type questions about theoretical course part;
2. practical task about laboratory classes and home work.

Test and home works must be credited and laboratory classes must be defended.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Home work. Three tasks will be given about meter precision and it’s choice.
During the semester home work needs to be completed and defended.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Exam assessment consist of exam tasks, test, homework and laboratory work cumulative assessment.

Exam theoretical and practical tasks can be skipped, if test assessment is at least 6 and laboratory and home works are defended during the semester time. Exam assessment consist of test (60%), laboratory (30%) and home work (10%) parts.
