Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to acquire methods of tariffs calculation for distributing network, differentiated tariffs for electric power sale, concepts and automation of electric energy accounting are studied during the study process. Study course gives insights in computer software, organization and methods of electric energy accounts for individual consumers and industrial enterprises. Study course is developed based on European Union requirements on electric energy network service tariffs calculation methodology, and development principles of electric power market.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - in automated electricity consumption accounting systems, methodology for paying fees for power distribution network services - Tests 1 and 2.
Skills - able to calculate energy costs and tariffs using billing computer programs- practical work.

Competence - to evaluate the economic efficiency of the use of different tariffs –homework, examination.

Full time intramural studies:
1. Developing the electricity market. Production. Transmission Distribution, (lecture – 1h)
2. Methodology for calculating tariffs for electricity distribution network services, (practical work – 1h)
3. Distribution network electricity balance, (lecture – 1h)
4. The costs to be included in the calculation of the tariff, (lecture – 1h)
5. SSO services by voltage levels, cost allocation principles, (practical work – 1h)
6. Set tariff ceilings for the tariff review cycle (lecture – 1h)
7. Tariff determination procedure (practical work – 1h)
Test 1. Tariffs, their structure and factors influencing it. Tariff calculation methods. (practical work – 1h)
8. Methodology for calculating final tariffs for electricity sales, (practical work – 1h)
9. Differentiated electricity sales tariffs, (practical work – 1h).
10. Electricity accounting concept, accounting organization (lecture – 1h)
11. Automated electrical energy accounting system (AEAS) structure, data storage (lecture – 1h)
12. Smart electronic accounting systems. Data transmission protocols (lecture – 1h)
13. Conformity assessment of electricity metering devices, acquisition of settlement data (lecture – 1h)
14. Settlement of electricity consumed by residents and industrial enterprises. Billing software, (practical work – 1h)

All topics specified for full time studies are accomplished, but the number of contact hours is one half of the number specified in the calendar

Requirements for awarding credit points

A written exam.
Four questions in the exam.

All home works must have been completed and tests credited.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Homework. Determination of the electricity price taking into account the type of production and the way in which it is to be used.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the study course exam depends on the cumulative assessment of the exam assignment and the study course test papers and homework.
A test or an exam is passed if at least 50% of the test questions are answered correctly.
The homework assignment is evaluated in accordance with the assessment procedure specified in the assignments of homework.

The exam mark is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the exam assignments and the average semester mark, which is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the marks of tests and homework taken from the study course.
