Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to work out analyze of information about building heating systems and those component parts design and maintenance, the calculations of hydraulic resistance of pipelines and those dimensions as well as heat losses of premises and building, required heat power of heater and selection of heater.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - methods for calculating the water heating system and its individual elements in hydraulic and thermal engineering — course work;
Skills - to calculate and selecting the parameters of the water heating system and its elements, economical assessment - course work;

Competence - selection of heating system elements, selection and calculation of the operating modes and parameters of the heating system - course work.

Course Content(Calendar)

Full time intramural studies:
1. Choosing a topic for a course, formulating goals and tasks. 3h
2. Create a course work plan. Collection of informative material. 3h
3. Collection and processing of informative material 4h
4. Development of a descriptive part on heating systems according to an individual topic. 8h
5. Hydraulic calculation of the water heating system loop. 3h
6. Calculation of heat loss for a particular room. 8h
7. Calculation of heat flow from pipelines. 2h
8. Corrections of calculations, economic evaluation and choice of heaters. 3h
9. Final development of course work, making the necessary corrections, paper design 4 h.
10. Defending of course work 2h
Part time extramural studies:

All topics specified for full time studies are accomplished, but the number of contact hours is one half of the number specified in the calendar

Requirements for awarding credit points

Course work developed and defended. Assessment with mark.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Development of course work in accordance with the requirements defined in course work description.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Rating of the course job with a mark.
The assessment consists of an estimate of the content, volume and quality of the part of the description, a hydraulic calculation assessment and a thermal calculation assessment.
All calculations must be complete and correct.

The assessment is also affected by compliance with the deadlines for submit of work
