Course abstract
Industrial property and its structure. Forms of protection of industrial property. Forms of industrial property protected legally in Latvia Republic - inventions, design samples and trade (service) marks, their patience and registration regulations. International practice in protection of industrial property. Procedure of application of patent on invention and registration of industrial design and trademark. Procedure of patent expertise in Latvia and in countries with full patent expertise. Main sources of patent information and databases. Methods of search of patent information.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After acquiring the study course the students will be competent to navigate an industrial property protection fundamentals, to be able to draw up patent application on invention as well as how to register the industrial design and the trade mark. Students will be competent how to obtain the necessary information, consultations and juridical help regarding the protection of industrial property, as well as what paten information sources are available and how to make the patent search.
