Course abstract

The aim of the course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge about higher education, study process and study environment at the university and faculty, helping to successfully start studies, paying special attention to the development of higher education in the world, Latvia and LLU, study program development, study process organization and student life diversity. Students improve their knowledge of the history of engineering psychology, the main theoretical models, research directions, as well as the interaction of information between the worker and the technician, learn the means and methods of professional adaptation, understand human psychophysiological properties, learn and review the basics of ergonomics at work. Investigates the diversity of psycho-emotional load at work and the operator's decision-making process. Within the course, students develop skills to discuss and substantiate their opinion, to think creatively and to seek innovative solutions to problems. Analysis of group work, situations and problems promotes students' ability to see, formulate, evaluate and find the most appropriate solutions.
