Course abstract

Subject discusses developing of consructive forms. Typical forms of rational structures (beams, trusses, frames e.t.c.). Insight into the development of spatial structures. Composite structures and their advantages is discussed on the basis of composite materials. Optimum design of structures is mastered by selecting design parameters, function of efficiency, constraints, and definite methods of optimization.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge about rational forms and optimum design of structures;
• skills to use the principles of optimum in real projects;
• competence to perform optimization of cross-section according to strength, stability and material consumption and evaluate the acquired results.
