Course abstract

Subject "Horizontal geodetic networks, modeling methods of networks" provides for master students the necessary knowledge of the horizontal network measurement methods, reconstruction works, normative documents and the organization of measuring works. Master students acquire the skills at working with instruments used in surveying, application of software for measurement data processing, document designing.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge on the Latvia coordinate system, the types of horizontal networks and their installation, maintenance and monitoring.
• skills of using geodetic instruments in the surveying, forming and formatting of schemes, using special processing applications of the measurements, formatting the reports of network installation or reconstruction.
• competence to be able to receive, select and analyze the information that is needed for the works, to use it and take on decisions according to one’s competency, and solve problems connected with the work, to understand professional ethics, to evaluate one’s professional actions on the environment and society.
