Course abstract

Students get introduced with the guidelines of Building Information Modelling (BIM), BIM terminology used in the industry, documentation, standards, processes and current BIM technologies. In practical work, students learn to develop Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) and BIM Execution Plan (BEP) documents, develop skills to work in Common Data Environment (CDE), working with information models, get introduced with basics of visual programming. In the laboratory work, students learn how to create a federated model by combining 3D models of different disciplines into a single model.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Student understands the basic principles and processes of BIM, knows the terminology and standards related to BIM.
2. Students are able to prepare PIP and BIP documentation - practical work.
3. Acquires work in VDV - practical work.
4. Development of information models and work with information in 3D models, parametric modelling possibilities - practical work.
5. Federated model clash check- laboratory works.
6. Parametric 3D model designing, using visual programming methods- laboratory works.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The student must attend at least 85% of classes. All practical works must be credited.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

In independent work, students learn the topics from contact classes and prepare independent works, according to the given task. The works must be submitted electronically, in the CDE, in the file formats specified in the task and within the specified term.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The evaluation of the study course is formed from the arithmetic mean evaluation of all practical works.
Practical work is evaluated in accordance with the evaluation procedure specified in the practical work tasks. If a student submits a practical work after the deadline, its assessment can reach 50% of the maximum possible.
