Course abstract

Students requare knowledge about construction, participants of construction, their mutual relations, legislation in construction, construction entrepreneurship, construction enterprise, contractor, structural projects stages of projection and their sequence, co-ordination, examination experts, corroboration, work with the project in building enterprice, patting into operation of buildings.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After studying the course the student will be strengthened, expanded and systematized theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of legislation, construction law; construction work processes, technology, construction work planning, organizing and conducting on site. Test. Skills to elaborate works of the organization (performance) project (construction schedule, construction master plan, construction of technological systems and quality assurance plan), acquired skills in the organization of works on construction sites will have the competence - the ability to develop a process for planning and construction management work for the project. Praactical works. Ability to comply with building codes appropriate technology works, prepare and execute files, as well as to determine the protective measures. The ability to monitor the construction process for the completed work of technical and quality control of completed work records check out covered works. Exam.

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Study course and its studies. Engineering research, survey.
2 Content of construction projects, stages and design sequence. Design of the drawing for marking. Levels of detail.
3 Coordination, examination and approval of construction projects. Building design companies, their specialization and cooperation.
4 Work with construction project construction company (engineering preparation).
5 Rights, obligations and responsibilities of the building contractor (construction company). 1. Test work.
6 General principles and methods for the acceptance and testing of building projects.
7 Building engineering. Legal work of construction works.
8 Supervision and documentation of construction works. Workshops, their completion.
9 Documenting the acceptance of hidden (covered) and other highly controlled works. 2. Test work.
10 Site supervision and author supervision. Documentation of Material Usage.
11 Acceptance (transfer) of structures in operation. Existing general requirements and procedures for the acceptance of structures.
12 Procedure for the adoption of individual (single family) houses and farm structures.
13 Adoption of special structures.
14 Construction and control of engineering communications. Labour Protection Control. 15 Construction of public procurement tenders. FIDIC contract terms. 3. Test work. 16 Course completions. Industry news. Exam.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The student must attend at least 85% of the class. Three tests must be written. Practical work should be developed. There must be submitted and defended the course project in accordance with the study program in the amount of 2 KP, passed the exam on the program issues. The student should regularly monitor changes in the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and the European Union in the field of construction. Regular work in the auditorium, included 3 test papers, report, test, final test with a mark.
The Exam mark consists of:
1. Mark of the Test on the theoretical substance acquired in the study course;
2. Report and presentation All tests must be counted.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Presentation on the topic of the report (at least 10 slides). Practical works.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The assessment of the study course exam depends on the study course's test, the presentation and the cumulative assessment of the practical work. The exam mark is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the test work marks, presentation marks, and assessment of the exam questions.
